Triggering can be done in frequency domain (e.g. scanning a certain span) or in time domain (e.g. with zero span). Triggering in frequency domain can be slow due to the time required to scan the frequency span.
- AUTO is the normal spectrum analyzer scanning mode, triggering is not active.
- NORMAL will display a new scan as soon as a signal in the scan causes a trigger event.
- SINGLE will wait for a signal to cause a trigger event and display the scan. Restart the waiting for an event by activating SINGLE again.
- LEVEL opens a sub-menu for the trigger level:
- TRIGGER LEVEL activates a keypad for entering the trigger level when multi-band mode is not active
- TRIGGER TRACE x selects a trace (1-4) to use as the trigger level, showing the trace table menu
- EDGE toggles the trigger edge direction: UP (level crosses from below to above) or DOWN (level crosses from above to below)
- TRIGGER toggles the trigger position on the screen: PRE, MID or POST. When using MID or POST trigger you can capture and display the signal before the trigger event happened
- INTERVAL sets the time grid interval for starting a scan. Set to zero to deactivate. Useful for fixed-interval repetitive events.
- BEEP outputs a beep via the audio output whenever a trigger level is exceeded. Also works in AUTO mode.
- AUTO SAVE when enabled saves the scan to SD card when the trigger level is exceeded.
- BACK returns to the Level menu
The active trigger level is shown on the screen as a blue line and in the status at the left. The trigger level in the status is shown in red when waiting for the trigger to happen and in green when a single trigger happened
